The medical exercise program is appropriate for you if you are experiencing pain or injury and have been unable to return to your prior functional level following an injury. This program works well for people prior to and after surgical procedures as well. This treatment is beneficial to you whether you have a newly diagnosed injury or a more chronic condition.
Your therapist or physician may recommend medical exercise to provide you with a structured physical reconditioning program needed to prepare you for a successful return to your activities. You may receive individualized manual therapy to address the major mechanical problems identified at your evaluation prior to beginning this program.
WHAT DOES THIS PROGRAM INVOLVE?The program is designed and staffed by physical therapy professionals extensively trained in treating injuries affecting the neck, back, and extremities. Components include exercises to increase flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination, as well as body mechanics and education and practice specific to your activities.
An initial program evaluation will be performed to establish baseline information. Your therapist will work with you to establish goals specific to your needs and current condition. Periodic reassessments will be done frequently to chart your progress.
HOW MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?Participants attend one to three days per week for approximately one-half to one hour each visit. The program is completed when you are able to continue your program on your own. Your active and consistent participation is essential for treatment success.
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER THIS?
Our staff will work with your physician’s office to obtain prior authorization from your insurance company. Anyone can participate in this program, whether newly injured or a more chronic condition.
