PTOSI                            Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Specialists, Inc.

B.I.D. Intensive Therapy Program
For patients referred to P.T.O.S.I. from out of town, we offer a one-week long B.I.D. (twice a day) program to facilitate the rehabilitation process.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM ENTAIL?

The B.I.D. program is designed and staffed by physical therapy professionals extensively trained in treating injuries affecting the neck, back, and extremities. The patient receives an initial evaluation on day one to identify the primary areas of restriction, muscle imbalance, and neuromuscular control deficits. A treatment plan is then established for the week to include manual therapy and instruction in a specific individualized home exercise program. Goals for treatment are discussed with the patient, placing emphasis on eventual self-management. Follow-up treatment, if needed, is coordinated with a physical therapist from the patient’s home area, and a determination is made at the end of the week as to the need for follow-up care at P.T.O.S.I.

During the week of treatment, the patient is also instructed in proper body mechanics and functional activities. The therapist provides demonstration, practice, and problem solving for common functional activities such as dressing, childcare, house and yard work, and work activities including pushing, pulling, and lifting.

HOW MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?

Participants attend two half-hour sessions per day for up to five days during a one-week time period. The first visit is usually one-hour. The patient's active and consistent participation is essential for treatment success.

WILL I BE WORKING WITH MY PRIMARY THERAPIST?

All of the sessions will be one-on-one with the same therapist. Patient's at the Minneapolis clinic may also work with our gym therapist.

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER THIS?

Our staff will work with your physician’s office to obtain prior authorization from your insurance company. Anyone can participate in this program, whether your are newly injured or have a chronic condition.
